SWIBN February Event – General Wellness for You and Your Business

Hello Ladies!

February’s SWIBN main event is nearly upon us.

On the 25th February at 7pm in the Glasshouse Hotel, we’ll be joined by functional nutritionist Siobhan O’Farrell. Siobhan works out of Sligo offering consultations to clients on how to maintain optimum health. Maintaining good health can often be an afterthought when we’re very busy with work, but it’s so vitally important. When your health is poor, you’re more likely to need time off which is not good for business. There is more and more evidence showing that what we eat and how we live affects our moods. If you are constantly on a stress cycle and your stimulants of choice are coffee and sugar, you are not giving your body any building blocks to make good mood hormones. This is something we can all be guilty of when we’re busy!

On the night, Siobhan will be talking us through how to maintain good health when you’re at your busiest with work. Start the year off right by implementing methods of improving your overall health – your body and business will thank you!

RSVP is free when done via the link HERE. We can’t wait to see you all there!

SWIBN January Event – Networking All Night Long!

Happy 2020 Ladies! We hope you’ve all had a brilliant start to the year.

With that in mind, this month’s event will be networking all night long! On Tuesday 28th January at 7pm in the Glasshouse Hotel, we’ll be hosting informal and facilitated networking activities in order to foster new business relationships between members. This is the perfect opportunity to make new contacts and to reconnect with any SWIBNers that you may have lost contact with!

If you know someone who you think would benefit from being a SWIBN member, this is the perfect night to invite them along! As ever, RSVP is free once done by clicking THIS LINK.

We can’t wait to see you then!

SWIBN Christmas Party

Hello Ladies!

Wow… what a year it’s been! It feels like it flew by in a flash! As we’re coming to the end of the year, it’s time for the SWIBN Christmas party! On the 17th December at 7pm in the Glasshouse Hotel, we’d love to see you so that we can catch up about the year that was. On the night we’ll be playing fun, festive networking activities and games, we’ll be having a business-y mini table quiz plus plenty of prizes, tasty canapés and all the mulled wine you can drink! The cost for all of the above is just €10.50 pp which is payable in advance only via Eventbrite (click HERE).

In order to really get into the Christmas spirit, we’d like everyone to bring a small Kris Kindle gift, the value of which should be no more than €5.

We’d really love to see all SWIBNers there so that we can toast another year of great business for women in Sligo!

SWIBN November Event: ‘Letting Go’ – The hardest part is making the decision… then you just get the best deal you can!

Hello ladies!

The time has come for another SWIBN monthly event! This month we’ll be joined by Niamh O’Brien who will be giving us an honest account of how she reached the decision to sell her business and how she finally did it in 2016.

Hailing from Laois and now living in the hills of Leitrim with her daughter Annie, Niamh was one of the first three students in Ireland to qualify with the newly introduced BA in Fashion Design from the Limerick School of Art and Design. That same year she won the highly coveted Design Council of Ireland £4,000 study award and continued her studies in the UK where she completed a research master’s degree in Clothing and Textiles Studies at De Montfort University in Leicestershire. Niamh’s career took off when she took up the post of assistant designer with Magee Menswear in Donegal Town where she was introduced to the commercial side of the clothing industry and gained vast experience in the production and marketing of men’s and ladies wear for both the indigenous and export markets.

In 1998 Niamh joined her husband Lorcan in his Retail Barcode Scanning business JustScan, in Sligo town as trainer and interface designer. She quickly moved into an Operations function as the team grew and the business expanded nationwide. Following the untimely death of Lorcan to heart cancer in 2006, Niamh took over running the business on a day to day basis supported by a very loyal, small team of experienced people.

In 2016, Niamh sold the business and is now working as a business consultant, facilitator and mentor which she thoroughly enjoys.

RSVP for this event is as ever FREE by clicking here.

SWIBN June Event – Brand Development

Hello Ladies!

A brand new month brings with it a brand new SWIBN main event! This month, we’ll be joined by Aisling Flanagan of Velvet Cloud. Back in 2015, Aisling set up Rockfield Dairy, a specialist sheep dairy product business, on the farm owned by her family. The products include sheep’s milk, cheese and yoghurt, sold under the Velvet Cloud brand. The farm was the first – and still is the only – sheep dairy farm in Ireland producing milk on a year-round basis.

Aisling identified a market opportunity for a range of Irish sheep’s milk dairy products when food trends were changing in 2015 which led to her setting up the business. In Ireland Velvet Cloud is now on sale in over 80 retail outlets, and enjoys a significant high end foodservice business, featuring on the menus of some of the best chefs in the country including five Michelin star restaurants. In2016 Velvet Cloud was announced as Euro-Toque winners for Excellence & Innovation in Dairy. The company is now exporting to London, and plans to develop exports further in the UK and to commence exporting to the UAE.

Aisling joins us so she can impart everything she has learned from this seriously impressive business journey that she’s been on. As many SWIBNers are trading in the food business, this evening will be very informative for a lot of us.

RSVP for FREE by clicking here.
